AccomModations and Transportation

The South Coast Clay All Stars recommend visiting New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau at www.neworleanscvb.com for information on accommodations. The site is very thorough and easy to navigate.

The Royal St. Charles is reserving a small block of rooms for NOLA Fired Up attendees, with rates as low as $89 per night. At 135 St. Charles, it is just across the street from the French Quarter, and about 7 blocks from the Contemporary Arts Center. For reservations go to www.royalstcharles.com, or call 1-800-265-1856.

SCCAS recommend the Ambassador Arts District Hotel, centrally located to conference activities, at 535 Tchoupitoulas Street. This hotel is 3 blocks from the French Quarter and walking distance to The Contemporary Arts Center. Rooms are $109 a night. For reservations go to www.ambassadorneworleans.com, or call 1-800-455-3417.

If you prefer funky, quaint, and edgy, or are traveling on a limited budget, we suggest The French Quarter Courtyard Hotel, at 1101 North Rampart. Six blocks from the French Quarter, this hotel is inexpensive and has Old World Charm. Great location, but not for the Faint Of Heart. Rooms are $89 a night.  Go to www.fqcourtyardhotel.com, or call 504-522-7333, or 1-800-290-4233.

If money is no issue in your life, we recommend the The McKendrick-Breaux House, an elegant Bed and Breakfast located at 1474 Magazine Street. See what they have to offer at www.mckendrick-breaux.com.  Room rates are between $145-$235 per night. The owners are fantastic folks.

Room rates may be less expensive if you book through online booking agencies such as expedia.com, or cheaptickets.com. For example, room rates at the French Quarter Courtyard Hotel are as low as $62 a night if booked through expedia.com.

New Orleans is a pretty small town, so it is possible to get around on bike. Some of us have done it for years--just be careful out thereI A good place to rent bikes while you are in town is Bicycle Michaels on Frenchman (just the other side of the French Quarter). Prices start at about $20/day. See if they rent helmets too, and watch out for some DEEP potholes.

For a cab, call United, that's what we do. You can order up a real New Orleans accent at 504-522-9771 or
504-524-9606.
